Ozil snubs Premier League duo

ozilThe Daily Mail have a rather sensational claim for us here at La Footyette headquarters as they note that Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil will not be leaving the club this summer.

The German International has been chased by both Manchester United and Arsenal and given the imminent arrival of Gareth Bale, the talented player had been linked with a move away from the La Liga giants.

Now however, the midfielder has come out and claimed that his future lies with Real Madrid. According to the Spanish press, Ozil has been given assurances by manager Carlo Ancelotti that he is a vital part of the squad and does have a future at Real Madrid – in the starting eleven.

Ozil himself dashed hopes of both David Moyes and Arsene Wenger over a £38 million move for him when speaking at a presser to mark his new boot deal and confessed:

“I feel really good at Madrid. I have a contract here until 2016. It is an honour to play with this team. I’m staying with Real Madrid,

“For me, it’s an honour to play here. I’m flattered that other teams are interested in me but my decision is firm: I’m staying here.”

As one of our favourite footyettes points out, this will be the fourth Real Madrid player Arsene Wenger has tried and failed to land this summer, not that Wenger is a stranger to rejection! It is not much better up North for Moyes, who has now seen targets Cesc Fabregas and Thiago opt to snub the Premier League as well. All the more reason to move for Juan Mata we say!

Will Ozil really snub a move? Comment below or tweet us @Lafootyettes.

Too good not to be starting every week but Utd and Afc rotate a lot too.
Ozil is great AM, pity that with CA he’s not playing in his best position.. He is very important for Real Madrid tho and it’s good that he knows it.

He’s a fantastic footballer, and has proven himself at Real. I just hope he gets consistent starts and can keep playing his way under Ancelotti. If and when he does move, I think there will be plenty of interest around Europe not just the PL.
